Connecting with the YardRink community is one of our favorite parts of the job. Whether someone is choosing their first backyard rink, preparing for setup or getting ready for another skating season, our Customer Care team is there to make the experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.
As we move into a new skating season, we’re excited to welcome Stephanie Servideo to our Customer Care team. Stephanie brings experience in customer service and inside sales, along with a problem-solving approach centered on making sure customers feel heard, supported and confident in the next step.
Joining YardRink also gives Stephanie the opportunity to reconnect with two former colleagues that she knows and admires: our very own Head of Customer Care, Johanna Spittle, and Laura Luciano, a member of YardRink’s Customer Care team.
Tell us a little about your background and what led you to YardRink.
My first professional role after college was at Paint Nite, where I worked in Customer Care and built a strong relationship with Johanna and Laura. Johanna and I started around the same time and quickly became a great team — she used to call me her ‘wingwoman.’
After moving to Rhode Island, we parted ways, and I went on to work at Pet Food Experts as an inside sales representative before becoming a stay-at-home mom to my daughter and my son. Four years into motherhood, I moved back to Massachusetts and reconnected with Johanna. The timing couldn’t have been better, and I was excited about the opportunity to work with Johanna and Laura again while taking on something completely new at YardRink. In many ways, it feels like a full‑circle moment — returning to the workforce after becoming a mom and reconnecting with the same people who were part of my earliest professional years. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity.
What have you learned from your customer service and sales experience that you’ll bring to YardRink customers?
My approach is that I may not have every answer right away, but I will always find it. Customer service is about listening, asking questions and making sure someone feels heard and supported while you work toward a solution.
Especially when someone is making a purchase or learning about a product that’s new to them, I think it’s important to be willing to learn alongside the customer. You may not immediately know the answer to every question, but you can take ownership of finding it and making sure the customer gets what they need.
What excites you about joining YardRink and working with its customers?
I love that YardRink is ultimately about helping families have fun together. I have lots of hockey fans in my life, including nephews who play, so I understand how much the sport can become part of a family’s life.
The backyard rink world is new to me, even though I’m from New England. Now I’m noticing rinks everywhere, from DIY setups to rink kits like YardRink. There’s a lot that goes into creating a backyard rink, and I’m excited to help make that process easier for families so they can focus on enjoying it.
Do you have any fun skating memories to share?
My high school actually had an ice rink, which I know isn’t typical. Ice skating was one of the activities we could choose in gym class, and at the time, I was convinced I was going to be a professional skater.
It’s been a while since I’ve regularly skated, but this past winter, I went to a birthday party at an indoor rink. Getting back on the ice was definitely a little tougher than I remembered, but it was fun, and I’m looking forward to getting back on skates more with my children in the coming winters.
