Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island Invests in YardRink for Multi-Sport Use!
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island has found a way to transform sports year-round for local youth and the staff who make it all happen. After thoroughly researching and demoing various options, Brian Andrade, the Club’s athletic director, was confident that YardRink was the perfect solution for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island.
“I wanted to offer athletes a place where they could play authentic street hockey. A fast and stress-free set-up, breakdown, and storage is vital to the success of a street hockey program – and that’s why I believe YardRink is the best fit for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island.”
– Brian Andrade, Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island's Athletic Director
When the YardRink arrived, the staff and kids were eager to bring the rink to life. Thanks to the help of his enthusiastic team, the setup was a breeze—taking no more than 30 minutes. Andrade was impressed by how effortlessly the rink came together and how adaptable it proved to be, quickly transforming their space into a versatile and fun-filled hockey environment.
Then came the moment everyone was waiting for – game time! YardRink’s innovative boards immediately improved playability compared to the fabric-based systems previously used. The curved plastic walls not only provided a much sturdier and more durable structure but also eliminated the frustrations of fragile, cumbersome setups that disrupted gameplay. Since YardRink is designed to mimic a real rink, the ball naturally rolls around the court, ensuring a smoother game and boosting durability and strength.
One unexpected benefit is the height of the panels. In their last rink, kids would try to hop over the boards, but they would fold and ultimately break. Now, the 10-and-under youth hockey players can easily step right over them, rather than risking a fall or broken bone. As a result, Andrade is eager to use YardRink for a variety of sports, including U6 youth soccer, and to create tournaments to engage the youth community.
Andrade knows firsthand the impact youth sports have on the community. He grew up going to recreation centers and playing indoor soccer and hockey – which is fueling his passion to provide his kids with the best sporting equipment out there. He holds these memories close to his heart and is so happy that with the help of YardRink, they can pass on the magic to younger generations.
