Living in Canada, there’s no shortage of outdoor rinks in the winter. However, these public rinks can often be crowded and not as enjoyable as we would like. That's why having a YardRink in our backyard has been an absolute game changer for us.
My husband, Jason, is an avid hockey player so when he gets out on the ice, the kids want to be just like him. It’s been amazing watching him pass on his passion for the sport to our children and the backyard rink has truly been a worthwhile investment for our family.
A New Family Obsession
Discovering YardRink was like finding a gem in a sea of options. I spent time researching different backyard rink solutions and was impressed by YardRink's design, reasonable pricing, and the added benefit of having the tarp on the outside. This feature alleviated our worries about potential tarp damage during falls, especially since it was our kids' first winter on skates. The rounded boards added to the rink's authenticity, allowing the puck to glide smoothly around the edges. Opting for YardRink over a DIY project was an easy choice, especially with the user-friendly zip ties. Once we made our decision, we quickly decided YardRink would be a Christmas present for the entire family to enjoy.
As soon as we set the rink up, our kids wanted to get out on the ice immediately. We were pleasantly surprised by how stable the ice was once everything froze, creating an experience that truly mimicked a professional rink. Now, after school, our kids rush to lace up their skates and spend quality time on the rink. My husband's newfound dedication to maintaining the ice quality has also been a joy to witness, showing just how much this rink means to our family.
Future Athletes in the Making
Our YardRink has not only become a hub for family fun but also a training ground for future athletes. Watching our kids' skating and hockey skills improve daily has been immensely rewarding. With Jason's guidance, they practice tirelessly, honing their techniques and developing a love for the sport. We've added nets, cones, and even lights around the rink, creating an environment where their passion can thrive regardless of the time of day. We love that they have the opportunity to be active outside in the winter and YardRink gets them off their screens!
Beyond physical skills, our kids are learning valuable life lessons about teamwork, discipline, and overall well-being. They understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle in becoming successful athletes and constantly support each other as they push boundaries and explore new skills. The confidence and skills they've gained from our YardRink experience are priceless, making this investment more than worthwhile.
