Growing up in Canada, hockey was a big part of my life. I spent time skating at a young age on a rink in our family’s garden. Fast forward a few decades, and I wanted to give my four-year-old son an introduction to hockey in a fun, backyard environment.
Originally, I thought I would build a rink myself. But the more I researched it, I realized I wanted something that looked professional without taking too much of my time to DIY.
Finding YardRink helped me create the exact rink I envisioned for my backyard and has already given me father-son memories I will never forget!
YardRink Checks all the Boxes
To start our backyard rink journey, we looked at the different types of kits, ultimately being drawn to YardRink. The layout was smart – curved boards with the tarp on the outside (so it won’t get cut when shovelling). With my son discovering hockey, I wanted him to get a feel for what it’s like rimming the puck around the boards. YardRink felt like the perfect fit for our family and made the whole process feel simple and achievable at a fair price.
I was impressed with how easy it was to set up my YardRink and how much it looks exactly like a miniature hockey rink. It fits into our yard very well, and when friends and family visit us they're always impressed with how it looks.
Backyard Fun for the Whole Family
I wanted our family to spend more time outside, enjoying some fresh winter air and giving my son a fun, family environment to discover and explore playing hockey.
Seeing my son experience the same joy I had growing up has made the entire investment worth it.
